This is a collaboration between the Hanze Academie Minerva and the Bachelor of Laws at the Hanze Groningen. Within a book it gives the involved law students space to express their matter of the heart – from the right to grief to wheelchair accessibility. Illustration students created accompanying works which were as diverse as Minerva is. We incorporated photographs, collages, and analogue and digital illustrations.
With its graphic design we invite the viewer to explore those sensitive topics from a different point of view, to change their perspective. It relates to actively taking time to listen to each other, understand different points of view, and maybe even redirect one’s mind.
We have implemented this with rotated typography and therefore, the story takes a literal turn, and the viewer literally needs to change their perspective. Moreover, there is a recurring color scheme that provides a sense of cohesion and community to all the diversity and individuality.
It was beautiful to foster a deeper understanding for all those different subjects that somehow were important to one or the other. A delightful collaboration that allowed all of us to leave our safe circle and connect on a deeper level.
